Tonight drill was held at station 53 for a demonstration of our newest rescue equipment, the Junkyard Dogs.  The Junkyard Dogs are stabilization struts for mainly vehicles also use for other things to stabilize in order to make a cut and extricate the vehicle.  The class was instructed by Marvin Waxum.

Annual department Christmas party disrupted.

On December 31st the Fairview Fire Department was dispatched for a reported vehicle accident at 7142 Old Ridge Road. West County Medic 3 was first on location and immediately requested Medic 1. Shortly afterwards Fairview Chief 520 arrived on location reporting one vehicle into a tree with entraptment and requested a helicopter to the scene. Within minutes of dispatched the Fairview Fire Department had their rescue, squad and fire police unit en route. Lake Shore Fire Department was special called for their squad due to the number of victims. Shortly after, Girard Fire Department was dispatched for their rescue, because of the lengthy extrication and a dash roll needed. Units working on scene were Fairview Rescue 539, Squad 538, Squad 537 and Brush Truck/Fire Police Unit 529, Lake Shore Squad 52, Girard Rescue 558, Lifestar Helicopter, West County Medic 1 and 3.
